起来

qǐlai

1. verb to rise; to stand up; also a directional complement

   他站起来了。

   Tā zhàn qǐlai le.

   He stood up.

2. verb complement (extended): to start doing

   孩子们听到音乐就跳起来了。

   Háizimen tīng dào yīnyuè jiù tiào qǐlai le.

   The children started dancing as soon as they heard the music.
