yīnwèi

1. preposition because of; due to (as a preposition, followed by a noun phrase)

   因为天气原因，航班延误。

   Yīnwèi tiānqì yuányīn, hángbān yánwù.

   Due to weather, the flight was delayed.

2. correlative conjunction because (links clauses, often paired with 所以 introducing the result)

   因为下雨，所以我们取消了活动。

   Yīnwèi xià yǔ, suǒyǐ wǒmen qǔxiāo le huódòng.

   Because it rained, we canceled the event.
