应该

yīnggāi

1. modal verb should; ought to (obligation)

   学生应该按时交作业。

   Xuéshēng yīnggāi ànshí jiāo zuòyè.

   Students should hand in homework on time.

2. modal verb should; must be (confident conjecture; negated as 应该不/应该没)

   他出发一个小时了，应该快到了。

   Tā chūfā yī ge xiǎoshí le, yīnggāi kuài dào le.

   He left an hour ago; he should be arriving soon.
