1. modal verb to be willing to; to consent (after overcoming reluctance; 不肯 = to refuse)

   他终于肯见我了。

   Tā zhōngyú kěn jiàn wǒ le.

   He finally agreed to see me.

2. modal verb to be willing to put in effort or pay a price

   只要你肯努力，就一定能学好中文。

   Zhǐyào nǐ kěn nǔlì, jiù yīdìng néng xuéhǎo Zhōngwén.

   As long as you are willing to work hard, you will definitely learn Chinese well.
