1. adverb definitely; without doubt

   他肯定会来。

   Tā kěndìng huì lái.

   He will definitely come.

2. verb to affirm; to approve of

   老师肯定了他的进步。

   Lǎoshī kěndìng le tā de jìnbù.

   The teacher affirmed his progress.

3. adjective definite; affirmative

   他给了一个肯定的答复。

   Tā gěi le yī ge kěndìng de dáfù.

   He gave a definite answer.
