1. correlative conjunction although … but … (尽管 is more written than 虽然; 可是 more colloquial than 但是)

   尽管他反复解释，可是大家还是不相信他。

   Jǐnguǎn tā fǎnfù jiěshì, kěshì dàjiā háishi bù xiāngxìn tā.

   Although he explained again and again, people still didn't believe him.
