哪里

nǎlǐ

1. pronoun where

   你住在哪里？

   Nǐ zhù zài nǎlǐ?

   Where do you live?

2. pronoun (polite) not at all — modest reply to a compliment (哪里哪里)

   “你的汉语真好！”“哪里哪里。”

   "Nǐ de Hànyǔ zhēn hǎo!" "Nǎlǐ nǎlǐ."

   "Your Chinese is great!" "Oh, you flatter me."

3. pronoun how...? (rhetorical negation)

   我哪里知道？
