1. adverb at the same time

   两件事同时发生。

   Liǎng jiàn shì tóngshí fāshēng.

   The two things happened at the same time.

2. correlative conjunction moreover; at the same time (adding another aspect)

   这份工作很辛苦，同时也很有意义。

   Zhè fèn gōngzuò hěn xīnkǔ, tóngshí yě hěn yǒu yìyì.
