下来(xiàlai) — meaning, uses and examples

1. verb to come down (toward the speaker); also a directional complement

   他从楼上走下来。

   Tā cóng lóushàng zǒu xiàlai.

   He came down from upstairs.

2. verb complement (extended): intensity dropping; settling into calm

   冷静下来。

   Lěngjìng xiàlai.

   Calm down.
