bèi

1. preposition passive marker of the 被-construction; introduces the agent (omittable); often adversative in tone

   西瓜被他吃了。

   Xīguā bèi tā chī le.

   The watermelon was eaten by him.

2. noun quilt

   天冷要盖被子。

   Tiān lěng yào gài bèizi.

   Cover yourself with a quilt when it is cold.
