算

suàn

1. verb to calculate; to work out

   你算算一共多少钱。

   Nǐ suànsuan yīgòng duōshǎo qián.

   Work out how much it is altogether.

2. verb to count as; to regard as

   今天这顿饭算我的。

   Jīntiān zhè dùn fàn suàn wǒ de.

   This meal is on me.

3. verb to count; to keep (one's word)

   我说话算数。

   Wǒ shuōhuà suànshù.

   I keep my word.

4. verb to drop it; to let it go (算了)

   算了，我们别去了。

   Suàn le, wǒmen bié qù le.

   Forget it, let's not go.

5. adverb 算是: can be considered as

   他算是专家了。

   Tā suàn shì zhuānjiā le.

   He counts as an expert by now.

6. adverb finally; at last (总算)

   我们总算到了。

   Wǒmen zǒngsuàn dào le.

   We finally made it.
