  1. adjective straight; not tilted

    把画挂正一点。

    Bǎ huà guà zhèng yīdiǎn.

    Hang the picture straight.

  2. adjective upright; honest

    他为人很正。

    Tā wéirén hěn zhèng.

    He is an upright person.

  3. adjective principal; chief (as opposed to deputy)

    他是正校长,那位是副校长。

    Tā shì zhèng xiàozhǎng, nà wèi shì fù xiàozhǎng.

    He is the principal; that person is the vice principal.

  4. adverb just; precisely; (indicating an action in progress)

    我正要出门,电话响了。

    Wǒ zhèng yào chūmén, diànhuà xiǎng le.

    Just as I was leaving, the phone rang.
