就是

jiùshì

1. adverb stubbornly; simply (insisting)

   他就是不听劝。

   Tā jiùshì bù tīng quàn.

   He simply will not listen to advice.

2. adverb precisely; exactly (confirming)

   我要找的就是你。

   Wǒ yào zhǎo de jiùshì nǐ.

   You are exactly the person I am looking for.

3. correlative conjunction even if (correlative: 就是…也…)

   就是下雨，我们也要去。

   Jiùshì xià yǔ, wǒmen yě yào qù.

   Even if it rains, we will still go.

4. interjection exactly! (agreeing with the speaker)

   今天这天气太热了！ 就是！出门都要晒破皮了。

   Jīntiān zhè tiānqì tài rè le! Jiùshì! Chūmén dōu yào shài pò pí le.

   A: It's so hot today! B: Exactly! Going outside feels like scorching your skin.
