1. adverb contrary to hopes or expectations

   我要出门，偏偏下起了大雨。

   Wǒ yào chūmén, piānpiān xiàqǐ le dàyǔ.

   Just as I was leaving, of course it started pouring.

2. adverb deliberately; insistently (against others)

   大家都同意，偏偏他反对。

   Dàjiā dōu tóngyì, piānpiān tā fǎnduì.

   Everyone agreed — he alone objected.
