    Zhè tiáo xiāoxi shì jiǎ de, bié xìn.

    This news is fake — don't believe it.

  2. verb to borrow (literary)

    成语"狐假虎威"里的"假"是"借"的意思。

    Chéngyǔ "hú jiǎ hǔ wēi" lǐ de "jiǎ" shì "jiè" de yìsi.

    In the idiom "the fox borrows the tiger's might," 假 means "to borrow."

  3. correlative conjunction if; supposing (假使)

    假如明天下雨,活动就改期举行。

    Jiǎrú míngtiān xiàyǔ, huódòng jiù gǎiqī jǔxíng.

    Should it rain tomorrow, the event will be rescheduled.
