   鉴于天气原因，比赛推迟了。

   Jiànyú tiānqì yuányīn, bǐsài tuīchí le.

   In view of the weather, the match was postponed.

2. correlative conjunction seeing that; in view of the fact that

   鉴于他经验不足，我们决定再派一个人。

   Jiànyú tā jīngyàn bùzú, wǒmen juédìng zài pài yī gè rén.

   Seeing that he lacks experience, we decided to send one more person.
