1. pronoun that; that one (points to something farther away)

   那个人是谁？

   Nàge rén shì shéi?

   Who is that person?

2. pronoun euphemistic stand-in for something the speaker prefers not to name

   你那个来了吗？

   Nǐ nàge lái le ma?

   Has your "that" come? (a euphemism, here for one's period)

3. adverb filler word: um, well (pausing to think or hesitate)

   我想问，那个，你从哪个国家来的？

   Wǒ xiǎng wèn, nàge, nǐ cóng nǎge guójiā lái de?

   I wanted to ask — um — which country are you from?
