    Gōngrén bàgōng yāoqiú tígāo gōngzī.

    The workers went on strike demanding higher wages.

  2. verb to dismiss (from office)

    他因严重失职被罢免。

    Tā yīn yánzhòng shīzhí bèi bàmiǎn.

    He was removed from office for grave dereliction of duty.

  3. modal particle sentence-final particle of concession (old style, like 吧)

    也罢,就依你说的办。

    Yě bà, jiù yī nǐ shuō de bàn.

    Very well then — we'll do as you say.
