xiàn

1. adverb now; currently; on the spot

   他现住在广州。

   Tā xiàn zhù zài Guǎngzhōu.

   He currently lives in Guangzhou.

2. verb to appear; to show

   她脸上现出了笑容。

   Tā liǎn shàng xiànchū le xiàoróng.

   A smile appeared on her face.

3. adjective ready (money); on hand

   买这个要付现金。

   Mǎi zhège yào fù xiànjīn.

   You have to pay cash for this.
