1. verb to know; to learn (literary)

   得悉老友一切平安，他放下心来。

   Déxī lǎoyǒu yīqiè píng'ān, tā fàngxià xīn lái.

   Learning that his old friend was safe and well, he felt relieved.

2. adverb entirely; all (literary)

   他把家中藏书悉数捐给了图书馆。

   Tā bǎ jiā zhōng cángshū xīshù juān gěi le túshūguǎn.

   He donated his entire home library to the public library.
