bìng

  1. adverb used before a negative to strengthen it, often correcting an assumption

    事情并不简单。

    Shìqing bìng bù jiǎndān.

    The matter is by no means simple.

  2. correlative conjunction and; moreover (joining two verbs or verb phrases)

    会议讨论并通过了这项计划。

    Huìyì tǎolùn bìng tōngguò le zhè xiàng jìhuà.

    The meeting discussed and approved the plan.
