将jiāng

1. adverb will; to be about to (indicates the near future)

   火车将于十分钟后到达。

   Huǒchē jiāng yú shí fēnzhōng hòu dàodá.

   The train will arrive in ten minutes.

2. preposition to take; (formal equivalent of 把, introducing the object)

   请将这份文件交给经理。

   Qǐng jiāng zhè fèn wénjiàn jiāo gěi jīnglǐ.

   Please hand this document over to the manager.

3. adverb in 将就: to make do with; to put up with reluctantly

   这个手机很旧了，先将就着用几天吧。

   Zhège shǒujī hěn jiù le, xiān jiāngjiu zhe yòng jǐ tiān ba.

   This phone is quite old — just make do with it for a few more days.

将jiàng

1. noun general; military commander (as suffix: 将官, 大将)

   他是一位有名的大将。

   Tā shì yī wèi yǒumíng de dàjiàng.

   He is a famous senior general.
