如(rú) — meaning, uses and examples

1. verb to be like; as

   十五的月亮圆如玉盘。

   Shíwǔ de yuèliang yuán rú yùpán.

   The full moon is as round as a jade plate.

2. correlative conjunction if (literary)

   如有问题，请随时联系我。

   Rú yǒu wèntí, qǐng suíshí liánxì wǒ.

   If there are any problems, contact me anytime.

3. verb to compare with; to measure up to (in negatives)

   百闻不如一见。

   Bǎi wén bùrú yī jiàn.

   Seeing once is better than hearing a hundred times.
