  1. adverb yet; however (adverb)

    天很冷,他却只穿一件衬衫。

    Tiān hěn lěng, tā què zhǐ chuān yī jiàn chènshān.

  2. verb to decline; to step back (in 推却, 退却)

    他推却了这份礼物。

    Tā tuīquè le zhè fèn lǐwù.

    He declined the gift.

  3. adverb verb complement: away; off (completion or removal, like 掉/去 — 省却, 忘却, 冷却)
