   Tā tuìwǔ huídào le jiāxiāng.

   He left the army and returned to his hometown.

2. numeral formal form of the numeral five

   支票上要用大写的"伍"。

   Zhīpiào shàng yào yòng dàxiě de "wǔ".

   On checks you must write the formal form of "five."
