cóng

1. preposition from (the starting point in time or space)

   我从上海坐火车来。

   Wǒ cóng Shànghǎi zuò huǒchē lái.

   I came by train from Shanghai.

2. verb to follow; to obey

   一切行动听从指挥。

   Yīqiè xíngdòng tīngcóng zhǐhuī.

   All actions follow the command.

3. adverb ever (mostly in the negative: never)

   他从不撒谎。

   Tā cóng bù sāhuǎng.

   He never lies.
