yīdìng

1. adverb definitely; certainly (certainty or determination)

   明天我一定来。

   Míngtiān wǒ yīdìng lái.

   I will definitely come tomorrow.

2. adjective fixed; specified

   上课时间是一定的，不能随便改。

   Shàngkè shíjiān shì yīdìng de, bùnéng suíbiàn gǎi.

   Class times are fixed and can't be changed at will.

3. adjective a certain amount of; due

   学外语需要一定的时间。

   Xué wàiyǔ xūyào yīdìng de shíjiān.

   Learning a foreign language takes a certain amount of time.
